Academic English
Learning Outcomes
The Academic English program enables students to use English as a second language (ESL) alongside Vietnamese, helping them succeed in international academic environments.
Students are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to participate in global academic programs and examinations such as SAT, IGCSE, IB (International Baccalaureate), A Level, and AP (Advanced Placement).
Why Choose the Academic English Program at THT?
Skills Developed
The Academic English Program not only helps students develop advanced language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing, but also equips them with essential academic skills such as research, essay writing, debating, critical thinking, creative thinking, analysis, problem-solving, and synthesis—similar to students studying in the UK, the US, or Australia.
The program includes multiple subjects, each taught using specialized curricula from Ivy Global School, an accredited educational institution in the United States.
Because students study in-depth academic subjects, they are able to develop their English proficiency through content-based learning across different disciplines.
Phonics and Spelling
This foundational subject helps students recognize English sounds, learn spelling patterns, blend sounds, and develop accurate pronunciation, as well as proper spelling. It builds a strong foundation for the development of listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in the future. This course is suitable for children from 5 years old and above, after completing two years of preschool English programs at THT.
Grammar
Students learn to distinguish different parts of speech such as nouns, verbs, and adjectives; understand how to use phrases and sentence structures; and learn how to combine sentences and apply English tenses naturally in both writing and communication.
Listening & Speaking
Through project-based learning, students present ideas, participate in discussions, work in groups, and deliver presentations in front of the class. This approach helps them develop fluency, confidence, and strong public speaking skills.
Creative Writing
From an early age, students are taught how to write essays, compose poems, and produce different types of writing such as descriptive, narrative, and argumentative texts. They also learn how to conduct research, write reports, search for and collect information, brainstorm ideas, create outlines, write drafts, and revise their work until it is complete. Learning essay writing helps students develop logical thinking, build strong arguments, and present evidence in a scientific and structured way, supporting their long-term academic success.
Thanks to this program, students at THT can easily transition to any international school in Vietnam and pursue overseas studies in the future. They will also be well-prepared to succeed in international examinations such as IELTS, O Level, A Level, AP, and SAT.
