STUDY PATH FOR KIDS PRE-PRIMARY SCHOOL

THE VALUE OF BUILDING AN ENGLISH PATH FOR CHILDREN AFTER PRIMARY PROGRAM COMPLETION

Children who follow the study path correctly can achieve Cambridge certificates at each level at the right age. Children must be exposed to English regularly. When the quantity is sufficient, the value will be created. 

Accordingly:

  • To achieve Flyer-A2 certificate at the end of primary school, students are required to study at least 2 hours of English per week from grade 1. In this process students are exposed to English in a regular basis.
  • To achieve B1 level in English at the end of primary school, students are required to study English at least 1 hour every day. At this level, students would be able to take part in English focus classes or English competitions.
  • To study other subjects in English, students are required to study English 2-3 hour per day.

A2 LEVEL ENGLISH STUDY PATH – FLYERS

To achieve A2 level – equivalent to Cambridge’s Flyers certificate,  children must study at least 2 hours per week. This is the most basic level of familiarity and exposure to English for children.

If a child spends 2 hours a week to study English regularly. At the end of primary school, children will achieve a Flyers certificate equivalent to the A2 level of children. 

At this level, children will learn  EFL curriculum  (English as a Foreign Language) of major publishers Oxford, Macmillan, Cambridge… color books with audio files are recommended have full access.

Thus, in 5 years of primary school, children have had 500 hours of learning to get used to English. 

B1 LEVEL ENGLISH STUDY PATH 

If you want your child to reach the B1 level, which can be used to apply to English major classes or take part in English competitions at the secondary and primary levels. Parents must train their children to use English for at least 1 hour a day. 

If every day, children spend 1 hour studying English regularly, after 5 years of primary school, children have accumulated more than 1500 hours of English. With this level, children can join the team, specialize in English and join a good Bilingual school within reach of good math ability. Children can have more choices for themselves with better learning environments.

In this English path, children should choose extensive reading – listening – viewing integrated textbooks appropriate to their age. Most importantly, children must love. Children can learn  more words. When they go to grades 4-5, focus on grammar books to choose words…

STUDY SUBJECTS ENTIRELY IN ENGLISH POST-PRIMARY SCHOOL

To reach the level of fully using English for their subjects. Children must be trained to USE English as a regular habit every day for at least 2-3 hours a day. 

If they USE English regularly for 2-3 hours a day. Children can accumulate nearly 1000 hours of USE of English each year. And after 5 years, children can accumulate more than 5000 hours of USE English. 

This is not about Parents forcing their children to use English 2-3 hours a day. If children really enjoy USING English, then they will identify and use them flexibly. 

For this English learning path, in the first 1000 hours, children also need to add vocabulary like path 2. In the next hours, listen and read like native students of the same age. Children must read and familiarize themselves with books in all English subjects. 

IN CONCLUSION

If in Path 1, children learn English, in Paths 2 and 3, children can USE English, including watching movies, listening to stories, and reading age-appropriate books that they love. 

For children who don’t have enough time to USE English, they will sit to learn, remember, and write new words and do grammar, such as remembering math formulas. Learning English must accumulate enough (LISTEN – WATCH – READ) to be able to ENJOY English naturally. 

It is a path to learn English when the quantity is enough, the substance will glow. Children will use English as their native language. No constraint or force.
